I was pretty good about blogging after every shoot before, but I got kind of lazy and stopped. As a reintroduction to my blog, I thought it might be good to do a reflections post on the start of T. Wu Photography for those of you who are interested.
I was always loved taking photos and being in photos, but never thought of doing it professionally. In 2012, I met Nadine Sachiko from Sachiko Studios and didn't know how much of an impact she would make on my life.

Not only did she do both a family session and couple session for me, but she also welcomed me as her mentee when I asked if I could assist her during her sessions. I was surprised she trusted me to use her equipment, but I was extra careful to make sure I didn't break anything! Nadine let me use Auto for the first family session with her, but after that, she showed no mercy and threw me right in.
She gave me a crash course on aperture mode, letting me practice on her and her cat. Between then and the time I went to another session with her, I practiced on everything and any of my friends willing to be my model. Nadine also let me photograph her daughter's 6th birthday party for more practice. Here are some of the photos of my first models!

Soon after that, I could start with people subjects, helping Nadine on some of her shoots.
Eventually I convinced some of my friends to let me practice on them...
One day I tried out using manual mode and ever since then, my photos have gotten a lot better. My session with Angela and Derek was my first experience with manual mode and I'm happy with how they turned out. I've been using manual ever since!
I started my T. Wu Photography Facebook page and have booking all my clients through Facebook. Over the past 4 months, I've gained over 200 likes and I couldn't be happier with all the support I've gotten. It's also been great sharing some my photos with my 520 followers on Tumblr!
I can't say I'm exactly successful yet, but it's nice to reflect and see how far I've come both as a photographer and personally over the past four months. Hopefully I can keep up on documenting my journey through these blog posts and I can't wait to see what else is in store for the future!
Thank you if you actually read through this post and feel free to leave any comments! Here are some of the amazing seniors that I've had the pleasure of doing sessions with this summer.
