Though I've done a lot of couple photos and an engagement session with Sachiko Studio, this was my first engagement session on my own. I'm happy how the photos turned out and it seems Babette and Omar think so too! I can't wait to shoot their wedding in January 2015. For now, here is their story.
Clearly their mindset has changed because this was what unfolded after almost two and a half years of dating.
On a chilly day in September, Omar asked Babette on a date through old town Pasadena. Omar is a shorts and t-shirts type of person, but even he was wearing a heavy jacket. While the jacket may have been a result of the cold, it might have just been a hiding spot for something that he kept fiddling around with in his pocket. Babette took notice and immediately asked what he was doing. Of course, Omar played it off and told her not to worry about it.
After dinner, they went for frozen yogurt at 21 Choices for dessert. They found a sitting area that had a perfect view of an acapella group performing in front of Tiffany & Co. Knowing Babette's irrational fear of having lots of people look at her (good luck on your wedding day girl!), Omar opted to simply pull out the ring to not attract attention. Of course, she happily said yes!
A week later, Babette was surprised that Omar asked for the ring back, telling her that he wanted to propose the proper way. One day while they were studying in his apartment (alone with no one watching!), he finally got his moment. He got down on one knee and popped the question.

They returned to Pasadena for me to capture their engagement photos at the City Hall.
Though it was bright in the afternoon, the archways were a perfect reflector of light!
Fun fact: I actually styled Babette's hair for this shoot :)
We ventured upstairs for the perfect backdrop. Though you can't really tell, the photo on the right was actually taken in the same area.
Babette and Omar actually exchanged the original ring and this new one seems to have been a good choice!
I'll end the blog at this perfect photo showing their young love and excitement for their wedding day. Check out their photography slideshow below for more photos!
