An important component to wedding photography is capturing the little details like the dress, shoes, garter, rings, etc. To see what style I like best, I decided to try capturing a wedding dress in different ways. Using the Jessica McClintock dress from my high school prom (yes, I wore white-- don't judge me!), I challenged myself to take photos of the dress in various places around my house. It was great seeing how the dress looked with different locations. I hope you like them! Feel free to leave any comments or suggestions.
Though I think the highlights are a bit strong, I like the backlighting of this photo and the effect it creates on the dress. I also am a fan of the curtains, but I wish I could have pulled them away from the middle to highlight the dress more.
I really love the contrast of the dress against the dark wooden door. I also like that the door matches the wooden hanger-- it adds a touch of elegance to the overall photo.
I originally shot this photo landscape, but the asymmetry of the sides of the bed were bothering me, so I switched to focus only on the backboard. What I like about this photo that wasn't highlighted in the other two is that you notice the hanger more. I added the red ribbon that adds to the hanger without detracting from the dress. This is also a nice display of the photos over my bed too!
Side Note: I am also sad to say that Jessica McClintock retired and is no longer making dresses :(
